Dear Newboldians,
We are well and truly into those days of limited daylight and long, dark evenings, but with them comes the Christmas season and all the fun festivities that lead up to it. We have so much fun to anticipate for the second half of Autumn Term.
As you will remember, Mrs Hudson always ran a Great Ormond Street Hospital benefit sale leading up to Christmas (a little Christmas market really), which will take place on Friday 27th November. Although Mrs Hudson has now retired, we felt that Great Ormond Street is such a great charity to support that we would like to continue to hold the sale with Mrs Hudson organising it for us. Our children will still participate in helping on the day and it will be more fun than ever. I hope you will all be able to come and find bargain Christmas gifts for family and friends.
Also, we have our annual trip to London on December 15th to sing for Princess Alexandra to benefit her favourite charity, New Bridge Foundation. Mrs Gungadoo and Mrs Dye have already chosen a beautiful song and Mrs Bay has a piece for the recorders to play. Of course, we must not forget our trip to Hamleys Toy Shop, which has been enormously successful in the past. Parents who want to volunteer to help out, please make sure you have a current DBS certificate to meet our safeguarding criteria.
The choir will also be singing for the elderly at our local nursing home, an activity that has also become traditional at our school.
Finally, it wouldn't be Christmas without our Christmas performance. This year Mrs Cook has volunteered to train the children for all the songs related to the performance and Mrs Proud will direct the acting, so it's team work all the way. Write Wednesday the 9th, 11a.m., and Thursday the 10th, 6.45p.m., in your diary.
Enjoy this wonderful season.
Kind regards to all,
Mrs Crissey
